Rear Valance and Trunk Dropdown Repairs (June 27, 2005)

Here is another late update of my progress. In this section I show Left Trunk Dropdown welded into place. I also show most of the Lower Rear Inner Valance repaired. At this point I have to finish welding the right Lower Rear Inner Valance and weld in the right Trunk Dropdown. Once this is complete, I can work on installing the rear Quarter Panels. I also temporarily reinstalled the rear suspension for this process. I did this so the body would be supported using the factory pick up points. This will ensure that the quarter panels will be welded in correctly.

Status photos as of 06/27/2005:
Here are some shots of the quarter panels being trial fitted on to the car. This is done to help me fabricate the Inner Valance pieces.
Here is the left trunk dropdown area after being prepped.
Here is a shot of the left rear valance are with all the rusted metal cut out and the good metal prepped with weldable primer.
Here are a few shots of early stages of the left rear valance repair. This is the part of the valance that attaches to the rear quarter panel and trunk dropdown. This area is actually two pieces. These shots show it tacked into place and the early stages of making the pieces.
Here are a few shots of early stages of the right rear valance repair.
Here are pictures of left trunk dropdown welded into place. I plug welded this piece where the factory welds were. I also welded along the seams in the trunk for added strength.
Here are some more recent pictures of the rear valance repair. At this point, the piece is almost complete. I have some welding to do on the left side and some welding and fitment tweaking for the right side. Once these are done I can work on installing the right trunk dropdown, and both quarter panels.
